Gustavo Camacho was elected to the Pico Rivera City Council in November 2009.  Prior to being elected to the council, Gustavo served as planning commissioner for the city.

In 2013, Mr. Camacho served as Mayor and President of the Water Authority and Housing Agency.  He was reelected in 2013 and currently serves on the city’s Transportation, Economic Development, Water and Public Safety adhoc committees.  He is the former chair and member of the Southeast Area Water Coalition, board member of the Sanitation District, and South East Area Animal Control Authority. 

Councilmember Camacho was elected Vice President to the California Contract Cities Association in 2014, an organization representing 70 California cities advocating collectively in Sacramento and Washington DC. He will be installed as President in May of 2015.

Councilmember Camacho is a renewable energy business development director and former executive director for a retail/business improvement district. And has worked with and consulted small business owners in the field of business development.

Councilmember Camacho believes in improving local commerce by assisting small business owners.  He has worked with our state legislature in creating and introducing state bills to improve our local economy. He has travelled to Sacramento and Washington DC in support of regional economic growth efforts. 

Councilmember Camacho is co-founder of Generation 1st Degree, a local community based effort to have at least one child in every Pico Rivera home earn a college degree.  He serves as director of several nonprofits, member of several community based committees and co-founder of several charitable, educational and business non-profits. 

Councilmember Camacho attended San Diego State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Urban Planning and met his wife Liz.  He has three beautiful daughters, Maya, Carolina and Sofia.
