Councilmember Gregory Salcido
Gregory Salcido was elected to the Pico Rivera City Council in 1999, and served as Mayor in 2002 and 2010. Born in East Los Angeles, Councilman Salcido graduated from El Rancho High School before attending Whittier College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in History. Councilman Salcido currently teaches history at his alma mater, El Rancho High School, here in Pico Rivera.
Aside from his Council duties, Councilmember Salcido serves as a member of the History and Heritage Society Committee and the Christmas Baskets Committee. He has also been appointed to represent the City as a member of the several organizations including the Los Angeles County City Selection Committee, Committee of Mayors, Pico Rivera Chamber of Commerce, Consolidated Youth Services Network and the Southeast Water Coalition.
Councilman Salcido is committed to protecting and promoting the highest quality of life for Pico Rivera residents. His goal as a councilmember is to continue Pico Rivera's inclusion into the American mainstream.
Councilman Salcido credits his students for being a constant reminder that keeping a positive and optimistic disposition is necessary for a productive future.
