Pico Rivera letter carriers will pick up more than just the mail as they travel their routes on Saturday, May 11. They will also collect non-perishable goods left by mailboxes as part of the Post Office's 21st annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
The effort, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, helps restock the shelves of community food banks and pantries around the country.
To participate, simply leave a bag or box of canned goods and other non-perishable food items by your mailbox before your letter carrier arrives that day. You can also leave food donations at the Pico Rivera Main Post Office, 6320 Passons Boulevard, that day starting at 8:00 a.m.
Locally, food donations will benefit the Pico Rivera Christmas Basket Committee, which provides emergency food assistance to eligible families throughout the year.
