A formal delegation of Pico Rivera residents, local business owners, educators and community leaders is being formed to visit our Sister City of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The visit is scheduled for September 26 through 29 to coincide with San Luis Potosi's first International Sister Cities Festival.
Formation of the delegation is being coordinated by the Pico Rivera Sister City Commission, a community-based organization that works with the City to foster international community involvement and people-to-people relationships between San Luis Potosi and Pico Rivera. The goal of the program is for each community to learn more about the other, and to develop lasting and meaningful exchanges in many areas, including education, business, culture, technology, tourism and economic opportunities.
During this visit, delegates will represent the community at formal ceremonies and visit a variety of important cultural and historical sites. There will also be an opportunity for individual tours based on pre-identified interests of delegation members.
Delegates are responsible for the cost of all travel and accommodations. City staff will work with representatives in San Luis Potosi to assist with travel arrangements and lodging. The Sister City Committee will provide an orientation for delegates prior to departure. A valid U.S. Passport is required. Normal passport application processing takes five to seven weeks to complete.
