Registrations are now being accepted for the Winter session of classes offered by the City's Department of Parks and Recreation. You can register at all parks facilities, the Department office or online.
The session begins Monday, January 5, 2015 with classes for all ages and skill levels in fitness and exercise, visual arts, adaptive recreation, teen programs and more.
A new martial arts class for youngsters, Lil’ Samurais, is being offered at Rio Hondo Park. Classes are designed for children ages 4 through 8 with a focus on learning punching and kicking techniques, as well as body awareness, strength, flexibility and self confidence, all while interacting with others. The cost for the four-week class is $25.
Fitness classes are a great way to start the New Year so a variety of courses are being offered at various City facilities. There’s a wide selection of activities for all skill levels, including martial arts, dance and yoga.
Residents interested in an art class can choose from a large selection, such as comic book workshops, adult oil painting, tole painting and much more.
The Senior Center also provides a variety of educational, recreational and social services to persons age 50 and above. Available courses include fitness, technology, and arts & crafts, all of which are offered at a low cost.
