Deputies from the Pico Rivera station will trade in their handcuffs for aprons during the Sheriff Department's annual Tip-A-Cop program on Wednesday, April 29.
From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., deputies will be taking over for the wait staff at the Chili's restaurant located on 8890 Washington Boulevard. All tips collected by the deputies during that time will be donated to the local Special Olympics Program. Chili's will also donate 15 percent of every tab to the Special Olympics program.
Tip-A-Cop events are a significant fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run®, one of the largest fundraising arms of Special Olympics Southern California. All tips are tax-deductible and support sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
