Pico Rivera Welcomes New Sheriff's Station Captain

Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station Operations Lieutenant Patrick Valdez has been assigned as the new Station Captain for the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station. Valdez took over the post last month following the departure of Captain Allen Castellano, who has taken another assignment within the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A 29-year veteran of the Department, Captain Valdez brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having worked at various patrol and detective assignments throughout the County.

Captain Valdez is no stranger to Pico Rivera, he started his career as an explorer scout at Pico Rivera Station in 1983. In 1992 Captain Valdez transferred to the Pico Rivera Station where he worked as a patrol deputy, a field training officer, the Problem Specific Policing Team, and as an Operations Safe Streets Detective.

“We welcome Captain Valdez and congratulate him on his new position at the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station” said City Manager René Bobadilla. “Captain Valdez is familiar with our community, with our issues, and we look forward to working with him in continuing to keep Pico Rivera a safe community.”

City Officials recognized Captain Castellano during a City Council Meeting held last month for his service and dedication to the City of Pico Rivera. Captain Castellano had been in charge of the Pico Rivera Station since March of 2014.

“The City is grateful to Captain Castellano, for his leadership and for his efforts to keep our City streets safe,” said Bobadilla. “We thank him for his service here in the City and wish him well on his new assignment in Lakewood.”
