City to Participate in the Great California Shake Out

The City of Pico Rivera will join Cities from across California to participate in one of the largest Earthquake Drills in the state, the Great Shake Out, on Thursday, October 15 at 10:15 a.m.

The Great Shake Out encourages people across the state to practice the simple steps of “Drop, Cover and Hold On” during an earthquake.

The Great Shake Out reminds California residents that Earthquakes can occur at any time anywhere in the state. Whether you are at home, work, school or on vacation, practicing “Drop, Cover and Hold On” will better prepare you for when the real shaking starts.

In order for City of Pico Rivera Employees to be better prepared as well, all City Facilities on Thursday, October 15 will be briefly closed just prior to 10:15 a.m. and will re-open at 10:35 a.m. for employees to participate in this state wide exercise.

For more information on the closure, call 562.801.4413.
