The heavily traveled intersection of Telegraph Road and Rosemead/Lakewood Boulevard in the Cities of Pico Rivera and Downey is about to get heavier traffic.
The cities of Downey and Pico Rivera were awarded $2.6 million dollars to rehabilitate the intersection of Telegraph Road and Rosemead/Lakewood Boulevard. The project calls for the increase of capacity by adding additional left turn lanes in all directions, increased left-turn storage in all directions, and a new right-turn pocket in the eastbound direction.
Full construction of the project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 13 with an anticipated completion date in July, 2016.
As a result of the construction, lanes available in all directions will be reduced to a single lane of travel. Both cities are looking to reduce the amount of construction time by doing night and weekend work. All businesses that are near the construction area will remain open.
Traffic delays are expected at this intersection, drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during construction.
