The Village Walk is an important lifestyle and entertainment center, which is home to Cinepolis movie theaters. With plans to improve Cinepolis theaters nationwide, the City is taking this opportunity to attract potential restaurant chains that would help draw in additional morning, daytime and midweek customers to Village Walk. The trend at lifestyle centers has been to have food establishments as anchor tenants to increase foot traffic and overall attendance at the centers.
To follow with the current trend, a successful regional restaurant was approached to fill the current void at Village Walk. Don Chente Bar and Grill, which currently operates a restaurant near Huntington Park, took interest in the location and is now in the planning stages of opening at Village Walk.
Don Chente Bar and Grill is operated by the Ortiz Family. The family has operated over 25 successful restaurants throughout Southern California including Don Chente Bar and Grill, and El Pescador. Don Chente Bar and Grill, operated by Vicente Ortiz, believes that Village Walk is an important lifestyle center in the City, which can become a regional draw, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in the City.
An upscale concept of Don Chente Bar and Grill within a 5,700 square foot space immediately adjacent to Cinepolis would help bring lunchtime and mid-week customers while bolstering the successful weekend activity at Village Walk. The available space has no tenant improvements inside, and will require a major investment for renovation.
The Don Chente Bar and Grill project has already increased interest from prospective Village Walk tenants, and plans for new buildings to house casual restaurants are in the works and will further improve the experience for visitors of Village Walk. Within the last couple of months, Village Walk property management recently entered into a lease agreement with Raising Cane’s – a popular chicken finger restaurant which is expanding all throughout the United States. Other new tenants including a popular coffee shop chain and a sandwich shop are also in negotiations for lease agreements.
Keep an eye on future Profile stories announcing more restaurants to open at the Village Walk Center and at other locations throughout the City.
