Halloween isn’t until October 31, but one group of local trick-or-treaters can’t wait until then.
On Saturday, October 14, volunteers from the Pico Rivera Christmas Basket Committee will be in Pico Rivera neighborhoods to Trick-or-Treat for Hunger. They’ll be going door to door collecting non-perishable food items for distribution to qualifying Pico Rivera families during the holiday season.
Residents who would like to donate to the effort are asked to provide items such as cereal, peanut butter, pasta and canned food items. Simply put them in a bag or box and set them by your front door no later than 8:30 a.m. on the morning of October 14. Collection will continue until approximately 12:30 that afternoon.
Volunteers are also needed to help collect the donations. They will meet at the Smith Park Pool Deck prior to 8:30 a.m. to receive an assigned route. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a wagon or similar type of cart to help with the collection.
