Innovation & Design Lab

Based on the commitment to overhaul Whittier Boulevard, the City has acquired a parcel of land and a vacant building that will eventually be used to stimulate new development based on the adopted Specific Plan. In the interim, the vacant building will serve as the temporary headquarters for the Pico Rivera Design Studio. As part of a more in-depth workforce development and education program, the city is forming partnerships with major educational institutions to offer immersive, real-world learning and working experience within the field of urban planning. Teams of students and ambassadors would be available to support ongoing tasks associated with the Historic Whittier Boulevard Program.
