The Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station has been working extra hard these past few months to address the homeless encampments set up along the river banks and railroad properties. Many residents and City officials have expressed their concerns over the growing homeless population due to these encampments that are popping in various locations throughout the City.

Since September, Deputy Sheriff Ben-Sahile has been working with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad, and their respective law enforcement departments to clean up the homeless encampments along the railroad properties. Homeless individuals that were impacted by these clean-ups were provided referrals to homeless services offered through the County or other organizations. The ultimate goal is to keep Pico Rivera safe and clean while helping those in need with perhaps a life-changing direction.
