Regional Resources

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is a joint-powers authority under CA state law established as an association of local governments and agencies that voluntarily convene as a forum to address regional issues. Under federal law, SCAG is designated as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and under state law as a Regional Transportation Planning Agency and a Council of Governments.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or LA Metro, plans, operates and coordinates funding for the public transportation network in Los Angeles County.

Montebello Bus Lines provides transportation services to residents of Montebello and neighboring cities. MBL is the third-largest municipal bus system in Los Angeles County with a fleet of 66 buses and operates routes through the City of Pico Rivera.

Metrolink operates the nation’s 3rd largest regional rail system between six Southern California counties across 508 route miles and 62 stations.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District is the regulatory agency responsible for improving air quality for large areas of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino County, including the Coachella valley.

The Gateway Cities Council of Governments is the coordinating body for cities and unincorporated areas in the Southeast Los Angeles Region. The COG collectively strategizes and advances initiatives in the areas of Transportation, Air Quality, Housing and Economic Development. The City of Pico Rivera and its neighboring cities are members of the Gateway Cities COG.

The Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority was established in 1998 by the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) as a single-purpose construction authority to implement a construction program intended to mitigate delays and vehicle collisions at rail-roadway crossings. Projects include the Durfee Avenue Grade Separation in the City of Pico Rivera.
