City officials gathered around an unused portion of land on the corner of Rosemead Boulevard and Gallatin Road to participate in the Groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated Alebrije Dog Park.

With over 7,500 active dog licenses in the City, the Alebrije Dog Park will be an amenity that dog owners from the City and surrounding communities can enjoy. Many dog owners will appreciate the benefits of having a local dog park, including pet socialization, fresh air, and being able to run in a controlled area without a leash. In addition to the dog park area, a small walking path will be included so that the local neighborhood residents can use the space to walk safely and enjoy some outdoor exercise. The chosen name, The City of Pico Rivera’s Alebrije Dog Park, not only reflects the City’s strong past and present Mexican-American cultural ties but also serves as a symbol of our community’s unity and diversity.

The Alebrije Dog Park Project is fully funded using $1.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and $1 million from the California Natural Resources Agency.
