Here are some best practices for responsible and safe recycling of e-Waste. Share and save this information!
Back-Up & Erase Data
Before recycling, back up important data. Perform a factory reset to erase all personal information, especially when disposing of cell phones and computers.
Donate If Still Usable
If the device still works, consider donating it to schools, nonprofits, or community centers where it can be reused. Offering to local “no-buy” groups is also a good option for repurposing functional electronics.
Check Manufacturer Warranties & Take-Back Programs
Check to see if your appliance can be replaced or repaired for free or at a discounted rate through an active warranty. Additionally, many manufacturers and retailers offer take back/trade-in programs that allow you to return old electronics for recycling. They may provide credit towards a new purchase!
Avoid Throwing Electronics in the Trash
Electronic waste contains hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium. Disposing of them in regular trash harms the environment. Please contact NASA Services at 888.888.0388 to schedule your free E-Waste pick-up (included with Bulky Items collection).
