Last month, City Officials were joined by the Pico Rivera Dons and American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) – Region 603 members – to commemorate the successful completion of the Smith Park synthetic turf sports field replacement project. After more than 13 years of use, the previous artificial turf had exceeded its expected lifespan and was in need of a much-needed upgrade.
Construction began in April of this year, and was completed in late June. The renovation project, which included the removal of the aging turf, grading to ensure proper field drainage, and the precision installation of a new synthetic turf surface with underlying padding, has significantly enhanced the safety of the playing field for the community. We invite residents and visitors alike to explore the newly renovated field at Smith Park and enjoy its upgraded amenities for years to come.
