In April 2025, the City of Pico Rivera partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps (SGVCC) to launch the Tree Adoption Program, reaching its goal of 200 resident sign-ups to expand the tree canopy, reduce emissions, and create more walkable neighborhoods.

Through this effort, residents helped improve air quality, enhance curb appeal, and build a greener Pico Rivera. At the same time, SGVCC advanced its GreenWorks initiative, providing eight local young adults with 450 hours of paid training in urban greening, leadership, and workforce development while planting 200 new trees and revitalizing community spaces.

The City thanks SGVCC and the Public Works Department for their contributions. Residents can learn more about future tree and sustainability programs—or join the waitlist—here: https://forms.gle/S82icKiaZwQ5Bi2R8
