There are a number of ways Pico Rivera residents can help conserve water while the state is in a drought. For example, finding and repairing plumbing leaks, taking shorter showers, using dishwashers and washing machines with full loads only, and turning off the water while you brush your teeth are all ways to conserve water.

Check your sprinkler system for leaks or broken sprinkler heads and then repair them. Planting drought-tolerant landscaping can reduce watering even more. Check at a local nursery or hardware store for ideas on drought-tolerant plants.

More water conservation tips can be found on the State’s Water Resources website at water.ca.gov.
