“We’re in this together!” has been a motivational and inspirational phrase that has helped many of us through the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this spirit, the students of the El Rancho Unified School District and the children of the Pico Rivera Community are genuinely fortunate to have the support from their local and state elected officials.

On June 11, 2021, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis attended the El Rancho High School Class of 2021 Graduation. She motivated our students with her speech that highlighted the importance of hard work and perseverance. We thank County Supervisor Solis for taking the time to inspire our graduates as they transition into adulthood.

Recently, five hundred El Rancho Unified families were selected to receive a free Samsung Chromebook. Through the support of State Senator Bob Archuleta, in partnership with Frontier Communications, and the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF), selected ERUSD families were given the opportunity to receive this great donation. The distribution of the Chromebooks kicked off on August 27, with a Drive-Thru event, where the students and their families had a chance to greet Senator Archuleta, the ERUSD School Board Members, the ERUSD Superintendent, and ERUSD staff. This donation will directly contribute to the success of our students. The District would like to thank Senator Archuletta, Frontier Communications, and CETF for providing this much-needed technology to our students.

Great things are happening in the El Rancho Unified School District. Recently, we received over $16.4 million through the American Rescue Plan Act from Congresswoman Linda Sanchez. This funding has arrived at the perfect time. A portion of these funds may be used to support any learning loss that has happened due to COVID-19. Some of these funds may also be used to replace and upgrade the critical systems within our infrastructure to make our schools cleaner, safer, and healthier for our students. Potential upgrades may include upgrading HVAC systems, replacing classroom windows, and updating safety systems. We are excited and ready to put these much-needed funds to work so that our students learn in healthy environments. We thank Congresswoman Sanchez for her support in securing and presenting these funds to the children of our community.

On the local level, the Pico Rivera City Leadership has been working closely with the El Rancho Unified School District on a number of items. This renewed partnership has proven to benefit and support the needs of our students and community. The District will continue to support the efforts to build relationships and collaborate with our City leaders as we work together to enhance the quality of life for our community. We thank our city partners, and we look forward to future endeavors.

The El Rancho Unified School District is proud to have the support of our local and state elected officials. We are truly in this together. Please stay healthy, stay safe, and let’s continue to be El Rancho Strong!
