This past December, the City received the Gateway Cities Council of Government Energy Action Awards (GCEAA) – Silver Level Energy Champion honor. The GCEAA encourages members to take the necessary steps of completing fundamental energy related activities that will drive the region towards accomplishing statewide sustainability goals. Cities earned one point for completing each of the twelve activities for this year’s award. During the five month reporting period, the City was able to complete eight activities including: enrollment in SoCalREN, enrollment in the Beacon Program, became a member of SoCalGas Local Government Partnership, attended at least one Energy Working Group meeting, served as an Energy Working Group presenter, completed a Comprehensive Energy Analysis, requested Energy Benchmarking, and completed at least one energy efficiency project being the Streetlight Acquisition and LED conversion.
