City Officials earlier this month proudly introduced and opened the new Veterans Resource Center located at the Pico Rivera Senior Center.

The opening of the Veterans Resource Center has been a priority for City Officials as they continue to look for ways to provide more services to the City’s Veterans population.

The Center will allow for Veterans and their families to receive referrals and information related to education, employment, housing, health, disability, and other benefits. In addition, it will be staffed by an accredited Veterans Service Officer once a week, and part-time staff, along with trained volunteers that will be able to assist Veterans with questions and additional services.

The Veterans Service Officer (VSO) is a key component to the Veterans Resource Center. The VSO is specially trained to provide expert assistance to Veterans and their families. They can provide valuable insight and assistance in applying for federal and state benefits and claims, as well as information on burial services, survivor benefits, transportation, and Veteran’s personal military records, amongst other services available for Veterans.

“We’re excited to see this service and center come to fruition,” said City Manager Steve Carmona. “It was a collaborative effort between our Veterans and City Staff. We are truly grateful for all the Veterans input, time, and patience, as we worked together to get this Center open.”

The Veterans Resource Center is just the beginning for available services for Veterans. The City’s Virtual City Hall also includes a Virtual Veterans Resource Center which will provide Veterans with even more access to resources at the convenience of their home computers or mobile devices.

The Pico Rivera Veterans Resource Center will be available inside the Pico Rivera Senior Center Monday through Thursday. The Veterans Service Officer will be available on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Staff and volunteers will be available Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
